Web and Digital Marketing Coordinator

General Description/Primary Purpose

The Web & Digital Marketing Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of digital marketing, including website content management, social media and more. The individual in the position will create and optimize content on the University's website, perform analytics and reporting, and make recommendations based upon data and Internet marketing best practices. The Web & Digital Marketing Coordinator acts as the in-house content management system (CMS) expert, and will formally train users and provide informal support as requested.

The ideal candidate will be energetic and will demonstrate initiative, creativity, a sense of humor, the ability to work well both independently and in a team while managing multiple responsibilities concurrently.


Description of Duties and Tasks

1.       Write and edit compelling, accurate and information-rich website content to provide an exceptional user experience

2.       Use search engine optimization (SEO) knowledge to generate fully optimized content and content strategies to direct web traffic and user interactions

3.       Create and implement comprehensive social media strategy designed to achieve organizational objectives

4.       Act as the in-house CMS expert; formally train users in the CMS, and provide informal support as required

5.       Assist in creation of multimedia (photo, video) for publication on the website

6.       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote student recruitment and retention

7.       Help the team navigate and understand the quickly evolving digital space


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience creating and editing web content through a CMS in a dynamic, high-volume environment.

  • Proficient in Drupal 7, including custom module development, key contributed modules & core API

  • Proficient in WordPress

  • Working knowledge of ASP.Net

  • Working knowledge of SQL

  • Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of search engine optimization, web content best practices, browser functionality and accessibility.

  • Experience with website analytics tools (Google analytics preferred) and ability to interpret and report data.

  • Passion for social media and demonstrated ability to design content to strategy.

  • Ability to organize multiple layers of copy and maintain consistency in voice, brand and site architecture.

  • Ability to train users with varying degrees of experience in the CMS.

  • Experience with Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator preferred.

  • Experience with optimizing and sizing images for web use and necessary techniques for use of video on the web.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain logical directory structure and files on web server, including knowledge of accepted file/folder naming conventions.

  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
